Catch as Catch Can

steel, plastic, produce, meat

The top of the food chain is a tricky place to be. Especially when humans are a species that prey on each other.

Money and Power have always been linked in the Western world, but their silent third partner is Food. Many American families do not have the option of "cruelty free" or "organic." Those are luxury words, and they come with a luxury tax.

Better to have food in the belly and change in the wallet than worry in the soul. Peace of mind is expensive unless you make your own. Ignorance is bliss. Unpleasant realities surround the more obvious but unspoken sources of nourishment: unethical labor, animal cruelty, mass consumption.

Sustenance is paid for many times over in the same cycle, and the real top dogs reap the greens. Animals that are quiet in the cage live longer.
